APC Celebrates a Successful Season Launch
Athlone Photography Club is delighted to announce the huge success of its 2025/26 Season Launch Night, held at Abbey Road Artists Studios. The evening brought together new and returning members to celebrate creativity, share plans for the year ahead, and set the tone for another exciting season of photography.
The launch showcased the ethos of the club – to provide a safe, friendly learning environment for photographers of all abilities, and to foster the study, practice, and appreciation of photography through meetings, talks, workshops, outings, competitions, and exhibitions.
The new season brings a warm welcome and exciting plans ahead for
Inspiring photography events and talks led by members and guest speakers.
Expanding opportunities for field trips, outings, and community engagement.
Continuing the much-loved People of Athlone portrait project and exhibition.
Encouraging members of all levels to contribute new ideas, helping to keep the club vibrant and dynamic.
Some upcoming highlights include a Mystery Night Ice-Breaker event on 10th September which will be a fun evening for members to get a chance to meet, collaborate, share inspiration and take photos.
Membership still open
The club warmly welcomes new members at any stage of the season. Whether you’re a complete beginner, a hobbyist, or an experienced photographer, there is space for everyone to learn, share, and grow in a supportive and social setting.
Free Photography Course
There will be an Introductory Photography Course on Saturday 13th September at 9:45am in Athlone Sub Aqua Club.
If you’re new to photography, or just want to brush up on the basics, this fun and relaxed course is for you! Run by some of our experienced members, we’ll take you through everything from getting to know your camera settings, to creating stronger compositions, and capturing both people and places. You’ll learn tips for shooting landscapes, taking natural portraits, and making the most of light so your photos really stand out.
No experience is needed – just bring your camera and your curiosity. The course is free and open to all members who join by Wednesday 10th September.

The club extends thanks to all the entrants for their submission to the Club Launch Night Competition. Congratulations to Stephanie Reddan who won free membership for the 2025/26 season.
